French Drain Installation and Water-Line Repair on Reid Street
Location: Reid Street
Municipality: Innisfil, Ontario
Project type: Residential French drain installation and water-line repair
Aluneed LTD completed a residential French drain installation in Innisfil at a property on Reid Street. The project also included repairing an underground water line.
The combined work addressed two separate property concerns: managing unwanted water around the affected area and repairing the damaged water-service line.
The Project Requirements
The property required an improved drainage solution to help collect and redirect water. A damaged section of the underground water line also required attention.
Because both systems were located below ground, the work needed to be coordinated carefully. This allowed Aluneed to address the drainage and waterline requirements while the affected area was accessible.
What Aluneed Did
First, the team assessed the affected area and selected an appropriate route for the French drain.
Next, the team excavated the required area and prepared it for the drainage installation. Drainage pipe and suitable surrounding drainage material were placed along the prepared route to help collect and direct water toward the intended discharge area.
In addition, the team accessed and repaired the damaged water line before closing the excavation.
The project scope included:
- Assessing the property’s drainage conditions
- Identifying the affected waterline section
- Planning the French drain route
- Excavating the required area
- Preparing the drainage bed
- Installing the French drain pipe
- Adding suitable drainage material
- Repairing the affected water line
- Checking the completed work
- Backfilling and securing the excavation
- Cleaning the project area
How a French Drain Helps
A French drain is designed to collect water below the surface and direct it toward an appropriate drainage or discharge point.
It may be useful in areas where water collects after rainfall, the ground remains saturated, or water regularly moves toward the building. The location, depth, and discharge arrangement must be selected according to the individual property.
However, a French drain does not replace every type of waterproofing system. Foundation cracks, grading problems, damaged foundation drainage, and other sources of water entry may require separate repairs.
Coordinating the Water Line Repair
Completing the waterline repair alongside the drainage work helped address both underground concerns within a coordinated project.
The damaged section was accessed, repaired, and checked before the excavated area was backfilled. The exact repair method depends on the pipe material, condition of the line, and location of the damage.
The Result
As a result, the Reid Street property received a new French drain system and a repaired underground water line.
The completed drainage work provided a method for collecting and redirecting water from the affected area, while the water-line repair addressed the identified service-line problem.
